The main mixing mechanism of a V Type Powder Mixer is diffusion. The raw material placed in the mixer is fixed to the inlet hole of the V-shell, and then both the drum and the V-shell are inverted 180 degrees by the mixer. This allows the powder to be introduced into the V-shell by gravity. Diffusive mixing occurs when the particles are distributed over a newly developed interface, which results in a homogeneous product, and the mixer is ideally suited for low-shear tumbling mixing of powders and particles.
The V-shaped mixer basically consists of two hollow cylindrical shells joined at an angle of 75° to 90°.

The mixer housing sits on a pivot axis that allows it to rotate and as the V-Mixer tumbles, the material continually splits and recombines and mixing occurs as the material falls randomly into the container. The repetitive converging motion of the materials, friction and straight edges lead to best practice and uniform mixing, which has been supported by the diffusion process.
